Frequently Asked Questions
if you have questions that are not answered below, please do not hesitate to call or email me.
When do I need to book?
I advise that bookings are made as soon as you have decided on your wedding date to avoid disappointment.
When do I need to pay and what type of payment do I accept?
I will need a $50 deposit to secure the date. I accept cash on the day of your trial. Payments at other times should be made by direct deposit or cheque. (I require the payment to be cleared 1 week prior to the day)
Do you come to my house or hotel?
Absolutely. My service is mobile and I aim to make your wedding day as convenient and stress free as possible. If you live more than 20km from the Canberra CBD, a travel surcharge may apply.
What products do you use?
I have a range of products in my kit. I don't believe one brand is great for everything and everybody. Therefore I try products all the time to find what is best for my clients. Makeup artists that use only one brand are probably sponsored by that company. Some of the brands I use are Nars, Kryolan, MAC, Napoleon, Gorgeous, The Make Up Store, Inglot and Jane Iredale to name a few. If you have any questions or want any tips, I will be more than happy to answer them.
What if I have any allergies?
Most of my products are hypo-allergenic so there is a very low risk of any allergic reactions. If you have a particular product you like, I will be happy to incorporate them into the make up. That's why a trial is so important. Please make sure you advise me of any problems prior to your trial so I can be prepared with appropriate products.
Will my makeup last all day / night?
I use professional products which have the highest quality ingredients. They are designed to last, however your makeup will need to be 'touched up' you eat, drink, dance and kiss! I recommend that you are prepared with lipstick/gloss for reapplication throughout the day. Its a good idea to purchase this lipstick before the trial so that it can be used throughout the day.
I also highly recommend purchasing a good compact translucent powder to make sure you are shine free all day. I can advise you on the best products to buy.
Do you do hair and how much?
I am trained in basic styling, but I am a Makeup Artist first and foremost. The price will range depending on the length of the hair and the style you would like. Booking a separate hairdresser is recommend for the best result. Generally having your hair styled first is advisable as this way heat styling and product will not ruin your makeup!
Why does a trial cost the same as the actual day?
Trials are just as important as your special day. I will spend more time with you on your trial day, working with you to design a look, ensuring you are 100% satisfied. I take digital photos and write a list of products used at your trial so that you are guaranteed of the same great result on your wedding day.
How long will the trial and wedding makeup take?
Trials usually take about 1-1.5 hours. This includes consultation and application time.
On your special day, please allow 40 minutes per person and 1 hour for the Bride.
How should I prepare for the trial?
It is a good idea to look through magazines for examples of makeup designs, as this helps me to create a look you will love. I can also work with you on your trial day to create your own individual design. If you have a photo of your gown, flowers and hair style as well ... even better!
Where does the trial and make up on the day take place?
Most brides have the trial at home but I will come to you at any location that is convenient.
What about facials?
If you are going to have a facial, make sure you do this at least a month before. Some skin will have minor break outs, but will clear after a few weeks.
Can I wax my eyebrows / upper lip?
Of course, but make sure you do it a few days prior to the big day to avoid redness. If you get any strays on your day, don't worry.... I will have tweezers!
Tan or not to tan?
That is the question. Do what you know works for you, solarium or fake. If fake, make sure you get a good product and trial or go to a reputable place. The day before is fine, but two days before is better, just in case you get unwanted streaks or if the tan is darker than anticipated. Remember that if you are not tanned at your trial, the foundation colour will be different and the overall effect will also change.
How do I get my skin at its best?
A good skin care routine is important. Make sure you cleanse, tone and moisturise at least once a day and exfoliate weekly. If you have problem skin, I recommend that you see a beautician.
